Where to Find Griot & Fritay in South Florida: 10 Haitian Spots in Miami & Broward

Searching for griot near you in South Florida? These ten Haitian restaurants and food trucks across Miami-Dade and Broward are a good place to start. Each one has a live ZoeAtlas listing with a photo, address and phone number.

This is a local shortlist, not a taste-test ranking. The numbers help you plan, they do not crown a winner. Menus and hours change, so call before you drive across town for one dish.

What is griot?

Griot (also written griyo) is Haiti's best-known pork dish. Pork shoulder is marinated in sour orange and epis, the Haitian green seasoning base, then simmered until tender and fried until the edges turn crisp. It usually comes with pikliz, a spicy pickled cabbage and Scotch bonnet relish, and banan peze, twice-fried green plantains. For the full method, see our authentic griot recipe guide.

What is fritay?

Fritay is the Haitian street-food fry spread. A typical plate can include griot, banan peze, akra (malanga fritters), marinad (seasoned fried dough), fried sweet potato and pikliz. What each kitchen includes varies, so ask what comes in the box.
